This project takes less than an hour, and the end result is oh so fun!
What you'll need:
- 1 small to medium metal basket. The one I'm using here was from a skincare gift set I received for christmas one year. I had stripped it of it's decorative paper and stashed it for a future project... :)
- A good amount of scrap fabric. Any kind will do, so long as you have "enough to go around," so to speak... hehe... Anyway, I'm using some leftover lemon-yellow cotton.
-A pair of scissors.
Cut or tear your fabric in to strips. Don't worry about having nice, even looking strips... it won't really matter in the end. :) Next, tie the ends of your strips together, so you have one looong strip.
^Wind this strip in to a ball. ^
Tie the end of your fabric to one corner of your basket... again, no perfection needed. We'll tuck everything in at the end...
Begin wrapping your fabric snugly around the basket, turning the knots to the inside as you come to them. Play around with twisting the fabric in some spots, and leaving it wider in others to mix up the texture and look of your basket.
When you get to the very bottom of your basket, tie the fabric around the nearest corner, tuck all knots to the inside (or leave them exposed, if that's your thing), and adjust to your liking.
I love my new yellow basket! I think I'd like to make more soon. Maybe with braided fabric, or multiple colors...
Let me know if you give this a try, I'd love to see your versions!
